Holiday weekends are usually crazy even if you aren't going through healing & stress from recent surgery. I decided to just rest all day and save up my energy (definitely spoonfuls) to go to my parents' house with my husband & father-in-law for a Passover Sedar. I'm not super religious but I do appreciate the culture and traditions I grew up and I also really appreciate my more laid back approach to faith after spending a year teaching in Israel... Anyway, it's nice to have the weekend. I'm definitely not up for my usual going to my in-laws house for Easter with the nieces and nephews this year, mainly because it is such a long drive and I want to be near my familiar bathroom as often as possible until my Chrohns symptoms and surgery pains being to fade. I hope you all are having a great weekend and have lots of fun plans and activities!  This was my first time straightening my hair in a long time and everybody (including me) was really shocked by h...

Spring can bring roses.

It has officially been a week and a half since my surgery and my husband's best guess is that my wounds are halfway healed and honestly, that sounds about right to me. I'm definitely still pretty tender and achy but I do feel like my optimism and business with Poshmark, my Instagram, and personal interests (reading, movies, podcasts, coloring, thrifting) are more than enough to keep me busy when I'm not laying around and in full recovery mode (which is about 80% of my day still). These things take time and I've been through a lot lately and my body needs time to rebuild and be strong once again. This is a bit of a remix since you probably already saw this jumper style dress in the Fall and Winter but in the Spring I like to break up the black more to make the roses and pink color really pop. I immediately thought of trying it with my Sven bow knot clogs before I got dressed today and I'm pretty happy with the overall effect!    I'm wearing : shirt-t...

I truly believe that animals help heal and spending some quality time with my parents' toy poodle, Sophie was definitely a highlight of my day. Tuesday was so rough in terms of my pain level and struggles but today was a few (small) steps forward. I even ran into TJ Maxx for a little while to pick out some new handsoaps for my home--they have the coolest imported soaps. Here is also my outfit debut of my purple Swedish Hasbeens 'ornament' clogs! I took a bit of a gamble getting this heel height in a 38 hoping it would fit and they fit PERFECTLY! I really love eBay (but also it's slightly addictive so I have to be careful). Every time I see purple clogs, I also think of the movie 'Clueless' which makes me enjoy them even more! I definitely am going to wear these a lot, probably all year round!  I'm wearing: top-thrifted, jeans-blank nyc, clogs- swedish hasbeens (eBay), sunglasses-thrifted Balenciaga, backpack-kate spade ny  The 'ornament...

the neutrals challenge with a hint of cacti.

It has been six days since my surgery! I am finally starting to (very slowly) feel a little better and see signs of myself and my positive nature once again. Granted, I am not allowing myself to leave the house for more than a few hours (the icing and soaking regiment is still in full swing) but today was my first 'going out to eat' outings since it all happened and it felt like a small victory! This is my submission to TME's week 2 of their Spring Challenge. The challenge is to wear an outfit with all neutral colors (they suggest white, grays, nudes, and beiges/tans). Check out the challenge HERE . I also thought today would be PERFECT to debut my vintage all leather hat FOR SALE in my Poshmark closet . Photos do not do this baby justice. It has all this beautiful handtooled work on it--cacti, horses, all kinds of western goodness AND it definitely keeps the sun out of your face also! I also recently acquired this Betsey Johnson cactus bag last week--I just couldn...

It has been a bit over a year since my initial diagnosis and hospitalization for Chrohns Disease. Since Valentine's Day, I have been (mostly) quietly suffering from a painful development (let's not get too graphic) and treating it as I was told without any success. It wasn't until last weekend that I just couldn't take the pain anymore. I knew last Sunday, that I would end up in the ER or at the very least on an operating table within a few days. I avoided the ER because they tend to give steroids to everyone and steroids are definitely not me-friendly and I didn't want to ruin all the progress I have made with my flare up (even though I still am in it, it has been way better than when it first started). I really thought about it and ended up going into work on Monday to tie up loose ends and let myself decide if or when I needed to take time off. I called different surgeons recommended to me all morning until I got an appointment for Tuesday with the docto...
