a new member in our family...
This was a big decision and a lot of planning and conversations around my mother-in-law having a standard poodle as her main companion that would keep her company and give her energy and make her feel safe (since it's her first time without living with a full house in maybe 20 years)!
The great thing is that Yeti is already a little over 1, so he's housebroken and no longer teething.
The hard thing is that he needs to be neutered, and he also is so sheltered and skittish, that we are going to keep him at our house for at least a few months to train him and let Axel also help with training him since Axel is the dream dog and a Very Good Boy.
We ended up shaving his front arms because he is white and doesn't always aim very well when he pees to put it mildly! This is going to be a bit of a learning curve. Plus it's too hot for him to have such a long and sheep-y coat, so we are going to trim him too soon!
His little paw warms my heart. I know it's early days, but I already LOVE Yeti so much. He's one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met!
He also gets along great with Axel is already starting to get comfortable around our house and staying by our sides throughout the day.
We got him green for his harness and leash and his favorite is walking side by side with his uncle! Yeti is not very good on the leash since he's NEVER been walked, but he's learning! It's going to take some time and patience, but I feel like we are making progress and he LOVES going on walks and gets very excited when we get the harness out. He also lets us put it on him easily, which is a great sign.
He barks at the door, just like Axel!
Some pizza is well deserved after a lot of exhaustion from caring for 2 dogs!
Anyone who's ever had one pet and jumps to 2 will agree that it is MUCH more work and energy. Especially a puppy, or I suppose a toddler in this case! xx
