my journey to Mexico.
One last donut for the road. They don't look like much, but these chocolate-dipped Mexican donuts were to DIE for! I will dream of them for years to come.
The coffee in Mexico was great. They had their own special Nespresso pods with the resort name on them.
There was always pastry, egg, and potato options at breakfast, which I appreciate. I also loved the fresh fruit and felt safe eating it in Mexico since we stayed at an all-inclusive. I've heard people recommend to avoid fruit and vegetables that have the skin on when traveling in Mexico.
A real highlight was BABY TURTLES! They were one of the coolest parts of the whole trip. I went into full tourist mode and took a place in the crowd on the beach!
We saw a few shows including some traditional Mexican dancing. It was great, but random, so hard to make it to the beginning and watch the full show without any announcements. We just followed the loud music and were able to grab a couple seats on two occasions.
Brought my custom Tessa Clogs to the beach and felt like I was modeling for some sort of romance cover art or professional beach shoot. I felt very glamorous in my new Gap gold shiny dress as well. I really feel like I packed the perfect mix of beachy and dressy outfits to wear on this trip!
Look at this new hat that is hand designed! I fel in love with the cactus details and my mom ended up getting it as an early birthday gift! It's real leather (sudede) and has the best desert scene!
Here's the info on Cana, the hat makers, if you want to see their hats for yourself. They ship internationally.
Even something so simple as a fish sandwich was elevated and super yummy at the resort (above) and I don't remember exactly how many times we got tacos, but I want to say at least 4?
The pool was not very busy, the water was on the colder side, but I still went in and did some bobbing around (it was very shallow).
I had some green juice with my breakfast just to try it. I wanted to eat as many different things as I could (nothing spicy, obviously).
We event went to a sushi place one night. I stuck to california rolls since my surgery still feels pretty close to my rearview and raw fish sounded scary.
Everyone toasted and drank cocktails that night except me, because I don't really like to drink often. It honestly makes me sad and tired most of the time!
Even just reading feels better when you are in an exotic vacation spot. I always bring all 10 of my library rentals (on my tablet) when I travel!
The caveman themed steakhouse was actually my least favorite meal during the trip. It just wasn't really the type of foods that I like, and everything had SO much seasoning, which can be a trigger for my symptoms.
I explored the bathrooms in the hall because sharing a bathroom with someone with Crohns is tough! Always know where your emergency bathroom is if your rommate/partner is using the W.C.!
We got to eat in a special VIP area for breakfast and lunch since we got special suites.
We also had this special lounge with snacks and spaces to play games or read.

Long story short:
A lot of people call Los Cabos, Mexico 'California Light' and I can see why. It feels like a different country but also feels safe and familiar in a lot of ways. I would absolutely recommend where my family stayed HERE. I wouldn't want to stay there without the VIP upgrade though, it truly felt very pampering and special.
We also stayed for 4 days, which felt perfect, like a long weekend. The flight from Arizona was super duper quick, another great bonus.
Going in early December was great too because it was not busy season. The hotel seemed mostly empty and we had overall great service and experience. We only went into town (outside of the resort) once to check out the art festival (where I got my hat!) and see Cabos more. We thought of doing a Trip Advisor boat tour or sunset Pirate cruise, but we just didn't have time, and we didn't feel like we 'needed' those kinds of excursions to enjoy ourselves.
As far as all-inlusive resorts go..I loved it. I felt like a White Lotus guest! It was luxury and truly a lot like being on a cruise ship without the movement (as my mom advertised it).
Have you ever been to Mexico? Have you ever stayed in an all-inclusive resort?
Also, as somebody with a lot of food restrictions and Crohn's it is SAFE as long as you are careful and communicate your dietary needs. I would definitely feel comfortable recommending this trip to friends and family. I ONLY got sick at one meal, and it was at the AIRPORT! The airport food was NOT good. But I do also deal with that most times I travel, so is it really that surprising?
