black and orange doesn't mean Halloween...

Lately, and I move into the new year (somehow, how?), I keep in my head what I read from a much bigger influencer than me discussing how she doesn't post *every outfit* or every day but tries to curate her feed to reflect a sort of 'best of' aesthetic of her outfits. This must be the secret, the trick, the key to not feeling burnt out or burdened by your own sense of dressing 'cute' constantly. My plans are to try to post on here, lookbook and instagram somewhat regularly three or four times a week. I might add in some mirror selfies of other outfits that don't warrant or feel 'worthy' of an extensive photo shoot. Or sometimes, I just don't have the time or energy to fully style and shoot a look.  I don't why I was giving myself that pressure or push to post so often and spend so much energy on posting when it wasn't really feeling like it was doing much in terms of my interaction with my followers and my own sense of style achieving felt a b...

meet my 2 new and 2 thrifted clogs joining the collection!

I've been wanting clogs this color for ages, couldn't find any, and eventually decided to customize some myself! I found these battered and beat up Sven Clogs on Poshmark and mixed up navy blue and yellow angelus brand leather paint to get the right shade of 'grass' green! They aren't 'perfect,' and I might get more paint in the right shade eventually but for the meantime, they are pretty nice and much improved! I think I might want to wear them on Christmas with some red tights and jingle bells! ($20 on Poshmark) In my last Clog Diaries, I alluded to the Maguba/Troentorp Outlet sale on eBay that I am HOOKED on because of how crazy reasonable these brand new, slightly irregular clogs and clog boots are priced at ! I got these gorgeous 'Lilly' style chelsea boots for only $50. Plus, I think the color is even better than expected because the gray is so shiny that it has a bit of a silvery sheen to it! How cute is this slip on style? I'm so into it!...

black & pink princess-inspired.

Having 2 childs' birthday parties in one weekend felt like a lot...but at least they were fun themes! Diana's party was princess vibes, so here's what I wore! I wore: eBay sweatshirt, thrifted dress, secondhand tights from my sister, secondhand dr martens x lazy oaf jungle boots, thrifted stella mccartney sunglasses, old gifted headband, socks from my mom (they have poodles!) It's always SO nice when my husband offers to take my photos for me! He's so good! & here was my pokemon themed full gengar look for Lily's poke-party! I wore: old gengar hat, uniqlo gengar tee, poshmark metallic skirt, socks from my husband, gifted sven clogs Do you ever go to or have childrens' parties with themes? Thoughts? xx

Avatar: The Way of Water

It is, most obviously a movie that requires careful rationing of drink-intake because of the staggering length of the film! Above, my favorite review I saw online, below, I wore my newly thrifted blue thrifted dress for an all-blue Avatar-inspired movie going look. I'm going to be honest and avoid spoilers by saying: It was not worth the 20 year wait. I wish we waited to watch it at home. I forgot how much I hate people and theaters (it had been a while since I saw a premium (not silver screen night) movie and man, was the person next to me reactive and talkative at EVERY scene, driving me NUTS! People in the theater can definitely effect your movie going experience for sure! Was there very much plot or anything different to offer than the original in terms of character development and story richness? Not really, no. Did you love the offspring of the main couple from Avatar 1? No. I kind of hated the kids, to be honest. They all looked EXACTLY the same, and did not offer much at al...

back to basics.

After wearing such a new-for-me sillhouette, I took comfort in wearing a very Melissa-since-college proportion of my favorite trenchcoat, a long dress, beret, and clogs! The fanny pack is a more recent signature, but I love it! It's so practical and I love the little smiley face and pop of pink. Plus, since the bag is brown and the strap is black, it truly matches everything in my closet. I also bring it to the gym and wear it when I work out for a hands-free, no fuss bag.  I'm wearing: ebay beret, anthro pansy trench from poshmark, rexy coach fanny pack from eBay, long dress from poshmark with fox's ny dress under (it's sheer!), old anthro glasses, sven clogs from poshmark Axel is SUCH a good boy, I had to share some bonus pics of my fave pup.  And here's a color play with my mauve clogs and my deep purple flowers. I loved the different tones of purple interacting! So summer-in-winter! Admittedly, my toes are a bit cold in sandals but I was too lazy to put on sock...

a new collar, a new shape.

I'm still debating amongst myself if I actually like this outfit enough to share it on instagram or wear it again. I feel like some sort of proportion is off. My husband said he thinks I wore the wrong tights for winter but I think it's the tights AND the hat that throw it off. The vest is also okay but I don't think it works quite right since it's too long for the proportions, I can barely reach the pockets. I'm unsure but it wasn't the worst. Sometimes we have outfit 'fails' but honestly, I loved how it came together at night with my 'babushka' hooded scarf and heavy coat with just the denim hem peeking out to walk Axel.  I wore : nordstrom rack hat, levi's dress from poshmark, thrifted sweater vest (h&m), target tights, sven clogs from poshmark Is this a 'good' outfit or am I be harding too hard on myself? I don't hate it, I just want to tweak it next time. It was my first time wearing this dress. It's the biggest colla...
